This illustration, created at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), reveals ultrastructural morphology exhibited by coronaviruses. Note the spikes that adorn the outer surface of the virus, which impart the look of a corona surrounding the virion, when viewed electron microscopically. A novel coronavirus, named Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), was identified as the cause of an outbreak of respiratory illness first detected in Wuhan, China in 2019. The illness caused by this virus has been named coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The American solution to combat long-COVID

The United States has made significant strides in combating COVID-19, equipping Americans with the necessary tools for protection and treatment. However, a considerable number of individuals are still grappling with a prolonged illness known as "Long COVID." These individuals experience persistent, debilitating symptoms that can persist long after the initial COVID-19 infection has resolved, resembling symptoms seen in other chronic medical conditions

Data

Post-COVID-19 consists of a period after recovering from COVID-19 infection. It is characterized by persistent symptoms such as fatigue, shortness of breath, brain fog, and muscle weakness, collectively known as long COVID. These symptoms can last for weeks or months, affecting the quality of life and requiring ongoing medical care and support. Severe cases of long COVID can lead to the development of serious lung diseases, aggravating one's health further.
